The girls have made a big splash in Japan’s music industry after the sales of their Japanese debut single surpassed 100,000 copies. Genie which was officially released on September 8th was placed 25th on the recent Oricon Weekly Singles Chart.
On the 8th week of release, “Genie” recorded sales of 4,435 copies which took the tally to an accumulative sales of 101,252 copies. In just over a month, the girls were awarded the Gold Disc Certificate by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for selling more than 100,000 copies of the debut single.
The recognition received from the Recording Industry Association due to their impressive achievement on the Oricon Chart is a proof of SNSD’s popularity and status in Japan. SNSD is the first girl group from Korea to have achieve such amazing feats.
More achievements can be anticipated from these girls as their 2nd Japanese debut single “Gee” looks more than promising. The single which was released on October 20th, have already recorded a total accumulative sales of89,561 in just two weeks. It is just a matter of time before the girls enjoy their second 100k-sales in Japan.
