Seohyun and Yonghwa go for a driving license challenge

The sweet potato couple (CNBLUE’s Yonghwa and SNSD’s Seohyun) went on a mission to acquire their drivers’ licenses on this week’s We Got Married.

Both of them had planned to obtain drivers’ licenses as a marriage plan, and they finally decided to carry it out! Both Seohyun and Yonghwa seemed enthusiastic about all of this.

In particular, Seohyun and Yonghwa’s young-looking verification photos are garnering a lot of attention.

Seohyun’s photo portrays an innocent and kind girl with her hair neatly bundled into piggy tails. Yonghwa’s picture also reveals his clean and bare face, which shook the hearts of the women viewers.

Hopefully both of them will pass!

The song and clip from the show is very cute and adorable, and we get to hear their amazing voices once again before they head off into yet another busy schedule.

How are idol singers recognized in Korea today?

In this present era where idols are hugely popular, how exactly and what are they being recognized for?

Mnet Media music research center did a one month research this past June, with a target group of 1000 adult male and females taking part.

And in their research, they marked out 57 currently active solo singers/groups in terms of vocal ability, appearance, friendliness, trend, stage presence and variety categories for the poll receipients to rate.

The results showed that apart from vocal ability, the idol groups all ranked highly in the other categories. Especially when it came to stage presence, 16 out of 20 names belonged to idol groups. Appearance wise, female idol groups ruled with 7 groups (SNSD, KARA, f(x), After School, 2NE1, T-ara, 4minute) in the top 10.

Guy idol groups ranked favourably in the variety field, with 2AM, Super Junior, 2PM placed in the top 10.

One particular thing to note was SNSD. They were ranked no.1 in appearance, trend, stage presence, variety. Having created the GEE phenomemon last year, the SNSD girls continued to show the “Power of 9″ with Oh! this year.

No idols were in the top 10 of the vocal ability category though.

Big Mama, Gummy, Lee Seung Chul, Shin Seung Hoon, etc were ranked in the top spots. This shows that the general public don’t quite recognize the idols for their vocals, and that’s one area that idols should try to rectify in future.

Yoona acted with Bruce Lee?

Not exactly.

SNSD’s Yoona is actually looking alike with a Hong Kong actress. Online bulletin boards found screen captures of a movie from 1972 called Way of the Dragon. In these photos, the actress who acted with Bruce Lee in the movie looks an awful lot like Yoona.

She is Nora Miao, a famous Hong Kong actress. She is originally from Taiwan and became a famous actress after working with Bruce Lee in this film.

In one scene, she has waves in her hair that look absolutely identical to Yoona. Personally, I don’t think their closeups are that similar but from far away, they do look like the same person.

Netizens wrote,

“They are dopplegangers. I was shocked.”
“I have goosebumps. She is now Yoona’s mom’s age.”
“Not just the face but the hair and movement are identical too.”

Isn’t this weird?

SNSD, 2PM, etc to hold poolside concert at Caribbean Bay

As part of the endorsement with Caribbean Bay, SNSD and 2PM will hold a outdoor concert on the 17th.

This will be at Caribbean Bay because it is part of the Carib Festa, a poolside summer part held by the water park. Eun Ji Won, MC Mong, Wheesung, Lee Jung Hyun and more have already performed at the other concerts starting June 25th.

2PM’s rep said, “Since it’s regarding Caribbean Bay, the boys are trying to bulk up their bodies. This will be a way for fans who couldn’t get tickets for their first concert to cheer up.” 2PM’s solo concert will take place at the end of the month.

SNSD, who partnered up with 2PM for the endorsement, will be at the concert as well to put on a performance. Davichi and One Two will also join in. The concerts will take place next week on the 24th and the 25th.

Behind the scenes

Some paparazzi-esque photos of SNSD’s Yoona with her family in Italy were revealed by a fan.

She was enjoying her free time in Rome, one of the most of visited cities of the world. She posed in front of the Trevi Fountain, one of Rome’s landmarks.

Fans complimented,

“Is this a photoshoot? Is it really taken by a fan?”
“Goddess face.”
“She looks amazing.”

Hideyuki Nakayama praises SNSD

Last month we reported that SNSD / Girls’ Generation was planning to go to the Japan Market. They’re working under Universal Music Japan’s record label Nayutawave Records for their Japan promotions and they are planning to release their debut single this September. They’re also scheduled to hold their first showcase concert on August 25th at the Ariake Coliseum in Japan in front of more than 10,000 fans.

Recently, a Japanese TV show on Nihon TV titled DON! featured a segment on SNSD and MC Hideyuki Nakayama was gushing over the girls. This man seems to be a real SNSD fanboy at heart, I’m sure the girls will be quite popular with the older male audience once they debut in Japan. Check out the segment below.

Yoona with new CF for Innisfree

SNSD / Girls’ Generation member Yoona has been endorsing skin care products for cosmetic brand Innisfree for some time now and now she’s back again with another endorsement.

This time she’s endorsing the Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask, a mask made out of the volcanic ashes from Jeju Island. Supposedly this material is supposed to be better for the skin than Mud.

Thanks to mystarmyangel for the tip and check out the CF below.

Yoona fits a large amount of jajangmyeon into her mouth on Family Outing 2

This week’s episode of Family Outing 2 took place at YangPyung, where the family feasted on some jajangmyeon – popular Korean dish of noodles with black bean sauce.

However, the family members had to pass through a test first before they could eat. They had to endure a painful 5 seconds or more of being pinched without screaming or showing signs of pain.

As 2PM’s Taecyeon pinched SNSD’s Yoona’s cheek, she unfortunately let out a scream before the 5 second mark. As a result, she was only given the opportunity to eat one-chopstick worth of jajangmyeon.

With the chopsticks, Yoona wrapped a large amount of jajangmyeon and further proved true to her nickname as ‘Big mouth Yoona’, which she earned during a previous Family Outing episode of her stuffing one-chopstick worth of ramen into her mouth.

Meanwhile, this was the last episode of Family Outing.

Onew to Yong Hwa, “I’ve been to SNSD dormitory because of Seo Hyun”

An episode happened which had C.N Blue Jung YongHwa wanting to grab SHINee Onew by the neck.

Jung YongHwa and member Lee JungShin were guest appearances on late night variety show KBS 2TV Night Star aired on 11th July.

They were in the topic of police and thief when Onew was asked, “Who was the reason that you went to SNSD’s dormitory?” And Onew answered jokingly, “SeoHyun.”

Jung YongHwa who is the make-believe husband to SeoHyun on MBC We Got Married then responded, “You!” And he grabbed Onew by his neck, which had cause laughter in the filming studio.

Onew later made Yonghwa dumbfounded by reminding him, “Don’t hurt Seohyun’s heart. She is Korea’s younger sister.”

Tae Yang, “I had a blind date with Yuri, and we are getting along well now”

Big Bang TaeYang’s surprising statement, “Through friend’s recommendation, I had blind date with So Nyeo Shi Dae Yuri last winter. Even now, we still keep in touch.”

Even though there are many stars who confessed on which other stars they meet up with, this will be the first time a popular idol confesses that he had met another idol through a blind date.

This was revealed during TaeYang’s appearance on SBS Strong Heart filming on 8th July. TaeYang said on the show, “I have not been in a relationship even until now. But for this year, I really want to meet a girl whom I really like and have my first relationship.”

Member SeungRi who was also present said, “We want to help TaeYang get a girl too. But without telling anyone of us, he actually went to So Nyeo Shi Dae’s concert alone.”

Taking SeungRi’s hint, MC Kang Ho Dong asked, “SeungRi’s really a good friend of ‘Strong Heart’. Thank you.” and to TaeYang, “Why did you go to SNSD concert alone? Did you receive anyone’s invitation?”

Flustered, TaeYang said, “For the 1 year I worked on the album, my mind was only on work and I didn’t go out much. Seeing that, a friend came forward and told me ‘I will introduce someone, go meet her. She has a good personality. It would be good if you can get along well.’. And the person turned out to be SNSD Yuri.” which had the other star appearances on the show shocked.

TaeYang added, “I was invited to SNSD’s concert by Yuri. After that we kept in touch and got along well. And this year, SeungRi became schoolmates with Yuri at JoongAng University and he got to know about me and Yuri.”

Hong KyungMin then chipped in, “Talks like these are talks we would not have dreamed to do on shows during our times.”

TaeYang also said on the show that day, “If I my relationship with Yuri is very deep, I don’t think I will confess like this today. We talk a lot about music on the phone these days. I look at us as close colleagues.”

And SeungRi then gave a hilarious comment, “It always starts with friends right.”

The show is set to air on 20th July.
